What is molluscum contagiosum?
Molluscum is caused by a virus that can be transferred by direct skin to skin contact with someone who has the infection. It may or may not be transmitted though sexual contact.
How do you know if you have molluscum?
Molluscum causes pimple-like lumps that re firm and painless which can appear in the genital area as well as other parts of the body. They usually appear within two to seven weeks of contact with someone who has molluscum.
How do you test for molluscum?
Molluscum is detected by careful examination of the skin. Molluscae have a distinctive appearance, but may sometimes be confused with warts.
